The grin was too wide. Much, much too wide. The child's lips were stretched impossibly thin, the corners of her mouth reaching from ear to ear. And the teeth...oh, the teeth! There were far too many of them. They went back and back into a cavern of a mouth that seemed to have no end. There was a tongue somewhere in that cavern as well, a long, snake-like tongue covered in hooks and barbs. Newly unemployed and overwhelmed, Aled was not prepared for the two little girls that were not little girls at all. And why would he have been? He did not know the girls, he had never seen them before. All Aled wanted to do was go home and wallow in self-pity. The girls, however, had plans of their own. They would not be dissuaded. They would not be ignored. The two little girls wanted a playmate for their deadly games, or barring that, someone to eat. And poor Aled, he was the only one in sight.
