'I don't wish for much in life. I'm not much to look at... I wish for nothing more than a quiet indoor life. I hear it's lovely there.' Are these the mutterings of the author of this story I hear you ask! They could be, but no. They are the wonderings and wishes of one determined, sentimental Banded Alder Borer Beetle that longs for a better life across the land and water. I know what you're thinking, you've been looking for a story about a Banded Alder Borer Beetle for the longest time and now here one is! Join in with this originally unusual adventure story following the ups and downs of one brave beetle, as he navigates his thoughts and feelings while finding his forever home. Will he channel his Papa's strength to achieve his dreams? Will his damaged wing stop him in his tracks? Will he finally break away from the squalor he shares with his hundreds of siblings? Beetle Blues is a personal take on striving for more no matter of size or capability. Born from a birthday surprise, this educational fiction comes from the mind of Jamie Backhouse and the creative hand of Thomas Harbin in a partnership steeped in friendship. This originally written and uniquely illustrated tale is a potential classic in the making.
