Professor Victor Godfried is a wolf biologist whose life has not gone to plan. But after encountering a creature known as the Dogman, he's given the opportunity to be a part of the century's biggest scientific discovery. Taking it, he relocates to Michigan where he begins investigating the creature.
After taking a specimen, he begins his research. But due to the intrigue the creature inspires, he forgoes rest and food, until his hunger and exhaustion drive him to sample the monster's thigh. While delicious, he suffers a psychedelic experience that makes him superhuman, but at the cost of his humanity.
Haunted by the experience, he resolves never to consume the creature's meat again. But thanks to the sinister influence of an entity known as the Beast, he delves deeper into the mystery of the Dogman, expanding his research to include the population of a nearby town and his elderly widowed neighbor.
