Kav's missions are always bad, but this one is worse than usual. The Roughnecks are placed under the command of an old enemy who is all too willing to order them into harm's way. Sent to the planet Python they are forced to deal with a constriction that doubles gravity for hours at a time.
The locals want them wiped out, and have the manpower to do it. The planet is trying to kill them too. The only hope Kav has is that a legend might be true. Somewhere on Python is a System's Alliance facility, and if all this prophecy stuff isn't nonsense, then Kav is meant to find it.
Will it be enough to defeat one of the most legendary avatar pilots of all time? Kav doesn't think so, but damned if he isn't going to die trying.
