Langdon is a systems kind of guy who hates meetings, isn't fond of working, and can't stand work stupidity. Sitting through tons of meetings and reorga-nizations that did little to improve work effectiveness, he could have dropped out to become a guitar-playing hippie. Using the Language of Work Formula allowed emotional displays, political posturing, and irrelevant thoughts to disappear from discussions. Instead, everyone's point of view was visible. The Business Model is for executives to gain their commitment to a new way of looking at work. It explains how to align work at the business unit, core processes, jobs and team (or department) levels. Also how to set standards, align culture and human relations, and assure adequate financial support--using the same Work Formula. Executives can then have their managers and work force apply the other two books in The Work Trilogy to achieve enterprise-wide success.
