Violence comes into it, certainly: but the violence is never unproblematic, either for the character or the reader. It's always violence that comes from somewhere and cuts both ways. This anthology is well-written, creative, thrilling, and bloody enthralling. I was looking forward to some fast-paced crime stories that packed a punch, but there is substantially more depth and breadth to this book. The author infuses his tales with irony and astute observation. Good characterisation throughout and clever storylines, each with a satisfying twist and an unexpected ending, make for a highly entertaining read. What makes this book a joy to read is the fact that you can't guess what the ending of each story will be! If you like short stories with kick & bite these are the ones for you. I definitely recommend Bullets, Teeth, & Fists 3 to anyone who likes the dark and gritty stories. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.
