The [ ]broken Iris story is about William Iris, who struggles with psychological episodes and intense nightmares that cause him to question his sanity. William is pitted against overcoming a great tragedy, while trying to understand the soul, consciousness, along with the science behind existence itself. William finds himself admitted to Vista Mental Institution, where he discovers that his disorder is actually a gift. He realizes that he is able to harness the intense pain and mixed emotions from his tragedy and use a yet to be discovered power, to do right by mankind. William finds his way to the collective unconscious, which he describes as the world Where Butterflies Never Die.
