Some lights don't go out. They just change form.

Bella and her sister Lucy are inseparable, two Peekapoo sisters with hearts as one. But Bella has always been the anxious one: the little dog who shakes and worries and barks when she is afraid. . Then one day, a warm glow begins to grow inside her chest, and Bella knows she must leave home to discover what it means.

Her journey carries her across rivers and rolling hills, through jungles and mountain forests, and onto the open prairie. Along the way, five wise animals each share a lesson she carries home in her heart. An alligator teaches patience. A cow shows her the gift of contentment. A monkey reminds her that joy does not need a reason. A bear reveals that true strength lives in gentleness. And a bison helps her understand that love is bigger than one lifetime.

With every lesson, Bella thinks of Lucy. And with every memory, her light grows brighter.

When her journey is complete, Bella returns home to keep a promise, not as she was before, but as something eternal. A star shining bright in the night sky, watching over her sister always.

Bella's Light is a tender and hopeful picture book for families navigating pet loss. Written and illustrated by Robert Kusserow and inspired by his real Peekapoo, Bella, the story gently reminds children that love never disappears, it simply transforms into a light that stays with us always.

For anyone who has ever loved and lost a pet.
