When a gaunt white man appears at the Barrakee, no one could know that he would create a series of events resulting in not only murder, but the settling of an old debt...
The Thorntons own Barrakee Station in the Australian bush country where they operate a sheep farm. One of their trusted workers is boat fishing one evening when he hears an unusual whirring sound, and discovers the dead body of an aborigine on the shore. It looks like he's been hit with a boomerang.
Sergeant Knowles is called in, but can find no clues to the murder. That's when Napoleon Bonaparte-Bony, as he prefers to be called-the half-caste tracker, and finest bush detective in the Commonwealth, is called in. Bony figures out who the murderer is fairly quickly, but for him, that is only part of the problem. Now he must know why the aborigine was killed.
