This is a book about lives of people in Vermont, about a teacher who lives for helping her students, but who knows that unless she unleashes her deeply hidden past she must flee. Vermont is a mystical maple syrup, vivid autumn leaves and skiing tourist world. It is also a hardscrabble, down to earth and down to business home to many. It is home to many who wish, for many reasons, to stay in the shadows of its lofty mountains. In the pages of April, we relive a world from the eighties, a world that in hopes and love is not all that different from today. A book of suspense and romance, it is a book of past misdeeds that will have you asking, who is teaching my children It is the 80's in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. A stalker is suddenly and stealthily in Jennifer Dillard's very carefully concealed world. Jennifer knows why her watcher waits and she knows that unless she outwits this stalker she must flee, or die. For more than a decade, 31-year- old Jennifer has been a fourth grade teacher in a tiny rural school in the aptly named town of Stern. Living in solitude in a small cabin along a murky lake has been a good fit. Until the watcher and construction site explosions dredge up Boston memories. Memories that force her to examine everyone, including the seductive handyman father of her favorite student and especially the Boston millionaire ordering the construction beside her once safe haven. As Jennifer searches, the watcher bides his time and does his evil, waiting for the right time for April to be over...forever.
