After so many years of marriage, twenty plus, I thought it might be hard to surprise me. My wife got back to the house after being away for a few days and for whatever reason I thought it would be alright to go into what might be referred to as super pesky tease mode.
Seeing her smile brings a lot of enjoyment to me, but I have learned over the years that sometimes a smile can be more than just a ha ha that was funny smile.
After several moments I noticed something a bit different about this smile. Perhaps it was that she was tired from being away from home so long?
In a somewhat straight voice, tinged with a hint of temporary insanity she said You had better stop.. My reply was that I just loved seeing her smile so much.
After a very long pause she said I am smiling because I know right now I can kill you and they will let me get away with it.....
It was time to fiddle with the laptop for awhile and maybe go walk the dog.
