The clash of civilizations, of science and religion, is drawn with lots of resonance and philosophic depth.... I found it something of a page-turner; as the chapters urged one on to see what happens. That's a plus for the reader.... Maybe most important, I think that as an allegory/parable it has mnemonic force that just a story might not have. It makes a place in one's psyche. It has the good ol archetypal ring.
