Copernicus was a revolutionary.
But he was not alone.
Before Europe moved the Earth, Islamic and Persianate astronomers had already moved the mathematics. They challenged Ptolemy, corrected ancient values, built instruments of precision, founded observatories, and created models that brought the old universe closer to transformation.
This book is not about diminishing Copernicus or denying Europe's achievements. It is about completing the story. The Renaissance did not emerge from darkness. It emerged from centuries of transmission, translation, observation, and correction - much of it carried by scholars whose names are too often missing from the popular history of science.
