The Asternauts follows Dave Davidson, a man on the verge of celebrating his 42nd birthday when he is suddenly displaced - thrown 150 years into the future and materializing in the middle of outer space, deep within the asteroid belt. Rescued by the Asteroid Coalition, Dave is assigned what appears to be a monotonous job, working under a pedantic android and partnered with two members of the Simian Genetic Program - a gorilla and an orangutan whose engineered intelligence gives them fully human-like personalities.
Dave's task is to cultivate strange, unclassified seeds recovered from a mysterious deep-space object. Once sprouted, these seeds produce dramatic and unpredictable reactions that the Coalition struggles to understand. As Dave adjusts to this bizarre new world, he must also confront the possibility that other members of his family may have been displaced as well.
Blending the fish-out-of-water humor of Futurama, the cosmic imagination of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the emotional grounding of Project Hail Mary, The Asternauts delivers a character-driven sci-fi adventure filled with heart, mystery, and wonder.
