Arms and the Man is a play written by George Bernard Shaw that was first performed in 1894. It is a satirical comedy that pokes fun at the romanticized view of war and the heroism associated with it. The play is set during the Serbo-Bulgarian War of 1885 and follows the story of a young Bulgarian woman named Raina who falls in love with a Swiss mercenary named Bluntschli. As the play progresses, the characters' illusions about war and love are challenged and ultimately shattered. The play is known for its witty dialogue, clever wordplay, and sharp social commentary.
