Andree At The North Pole: With Details Of His Fate is a non-fiction book written by Leon Lewis that tells the story of Swedish explorer Salomon August Andre and his ill-fated attempt to reach the North Pole by balloon in 1897. The book provides a detailed account of Andre's preparations, the launch of his balloon, and the subsequent disappearance of Andre and his two companions. Lewis uses primary sources, including Andre's diaries and letters, to reconstruct the events leading up to the expedition and the tragic outcome. The book also explores the controversy surrounding the expedition, including criticism of Andre's lack of experience and the decision to use a hydrogen-filled balloon. Overall, Andree At The North Pole: With Details Of His Fate is a fascinating and informative account of one of the most daring and ill-fated expeditions in the history of Arctic exploration. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
