Christian Alexander presents his first novel, American Killers, a cult black novel about the ever growing issues being delt with by the increasingly unstable youth of today. Michael, an eighteen year old self acclaimed genius, Josh, a young and impressionable rebel and Arnold, a self critical and misunderstood sixteen year old are three teenage boys who go to the same US school which is as typical as any other in the country. Following their return to a new school year, and after a series of incidents in which they are all in one way effected, they decide to conduct one of the most violent and infamous atrocities in modern times. In a world obsessed with attaining fame by any means, the novel explores multilateral issues of growing up on a worlds stage, combined with the issues and effects of different facets of parenting, the use of drugs, the lingering ideas of religion, troublesome philosophy and the effects that movies have on the minds of the youth of today. Presenting these issues by creating deep and complicated characters, the novel submerges the reader into a dark world of undeniable contrast to their own, and affords the reader the oppurtunity to read the story as if the main character had written the novel and published it himself. American Killers takes the people into an area so rarely accessable to readers today and explores the pychological effects of themany issues mentioned, whilst also trying to remain open-minded and free from judgement of the characters that commit a pure act of evil. The story twists and turns throughout the novel untill the final chapter, leaving the reader to reflect on the depth of themselves. Although the dark humour relinquishes some of the horror, this is in most part necessary for American Killers to be able to fulfill its purpose in offering not only a rollercoaster journey that breaks every rule, but allow the reader to learn something from every level of mankinds depravity and darker side, as well as take from the novel and it's characters as much meaningful discussion as the reader chooses to absorb from it's subject matter.WARNING: - Contains material that some may find offensive.
