An accomplished older woman and her team begin training the next generation to protect Local Neighborhood. Together, they must find a way to stop the invading Olmeri.
This is the fifth book in the eight-book series. The Ambassador, her team and the New Kids are on Dagon reviewing what they have.
The Ambassador gets President Smbarak to let her have some new equipment. Then, she quietly goes to Ras 2 to visit the grandmother who has secretly been teaching her. The Grandmother is very old. She quietly passes away. The Ambassador returns to the Magellan. She asks N'amani if Tory could be ready to go with Maru and B'ani when they go to Xuru again. They pick up Sentar, Maru, Galen, and B'ani to go back out. While they are in transit, they spend some time in the training hall. Turns out, Tory has very good bagua skills. B'ani decides to teach him. Maru helps Tia with her turns and centering. Daniel wants to lead, but he hasn't decided what he wants. The Ambassador briefs President Smbarak on the situation. The Old Guard decide to wear their colors for their presentation to High Council. The High Council is surprised to learn the Old Guard are the best of the best in their generation.
The stories offer a rare glimpse into the inner world of traditional martial arts training. The Ambassador and her four old friends embody the five elements of Xingyiquan (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire, Earth) grounding the series in the long history and storied traditions of authentic Chinese martial arts. Their colors (White, Black, Green, Red, Gold) reflect their elements, personalities, and special skills (xingyi, taiji, qigong, bagua, sword).
Throughout the stories, the focus is on taking care of each other, what honor, integrity, honesty, and kindness mean, how we pass on what we have learned and bring up the next generations, and all sorts of positive character questions that are fundamental to traditional martial arts.
