John Calvin was a promising young composer who just received an incredible offer to be the resident composer to the Altura Foundation's City of the Future. The Foundation had assembled the greatest scientists, doctors, social engineers and experts in every field to create a 'Utopia' on an island in the Pacific. It was to be the model city and prototype for the whole world! When he arrived there it was even greater than he imagined. This group seemed on the verge of solving all the world's greatest plagues: Disease, poverty, famine, clean energy and the scarcity of resources which so often led to war. This was his dream job in an incredible project which could benefit all mankind! Past attempts at forming a Utopia failed, at least in part, because they could not solve allof the world's greatest problems. It appeared that this was no longer true.
However, the longer he was there, the more questions that he had about his privacy and his freedom. There did not seem to be any room for disagreement or dissension. When people started disappearing he became increasingly alarmed. He began wondering if this was a benevolent movement to serve mankind or an attempt to control the world. As his musical compositions were impressing all around him he was becoming very popular. Furthermore, his wise and thoughtful answers to questions led to him increasingly being brought into leadership. He saw the incredible potential and the possible dangers of this movement. He wanted to totally support this project, but he needed to learn the truth. The book comes to a climax as the Altura Proposal is presented to the United Nations and John had a critical decision to make.
