Like any other group of kids, their conversations sometimes focused on what I will be when I grow up. The usual vocations like astronaut, fireman, and policeman were mentioned by the guys while nurse, teacher and model were more than sure to come up for the girls. However, Rocco and his friends really had no idea where the future would take them. In Rocco Deloberti's case, he more or less followed the dictates of fate that led him to joining the ranks of the New York City Police Department. He apparently was a lot luckier than some of his friends who were drafted into the military to face combat in the Vietnam War. However, Rocco had his own problems as he progressed in the police department. In fact, he was involved in so many adverse and sometimes deadly situations that he earned the distrust of other officers who tagged him Trouble.
During his dealings with other cops and his relationship with his girlfriend, he encounters one officer who becomes his nemesis. It is this cop who develops a diabolical plan to destroy Rocco's standing in the department and ruin his future with his girlfriend, Janet. Rocco faces challenge after challenge and ultimately falls prey to the constant barrage of obstacles that comes his way. Officer Deloberti hits rock bottom before an influential former enemy grabs Rocco's bootstraps and attempts to pull him out of the bottomless pit that layed before him. Trouble must confront trouble before it's too late to avoid an unfortunate and unforgiving future.
