A wrong turn. A mysterious train. A trip through time that should have been impossible.
Cyrus Grieve has spent his life chasing baseball. A veteran scout with an eye for talent and a love of the game, he's seen just about everything. Then, on a scouting trip through rural Pennsylvania, he boards a train and arrives somewhere he cannot explain.
Black Springs, Indiana.
Suddenly trapped in another time, Cyrus finds himself living inside a mystery that history insists has already happened. As he struggles to make sense of his circumstances, he becomes entangled in the lives of the town's residents and discovers that his presence may change the future of Black Springs forever.
The deeper he digs, the more impossible the situation becomes. Long-buried family secrets, strange coincidences, and lingering supernatural echoes suggest that forces beyond his understanding are at work. What begins as a bewildering journey becomes a gripping time travel thriller, a paranormal mystery, and a small-town mystery wrapped into one unforgettable adventure.
As past and present begin to collide, Cyrus must determine whether he is simply an accidental visitor to another era or part of a story that has been unfolding for generations.
The Accidental Stranger is the second novel in The Black Springs Saga, an atmospheric blend of time travel fiction, time slip fiction, historical mystery, supernatural suspense, alternate history, speculative fiction, and Midwestern gothic storytelling. Combining the heart of baseball fiction with the intrigue of a fish-out-of-water adventure, it is a character-driven novel about destiny, memory, and the enduring power of human connection.
Perfect for readers who enjoy time travel novels, atmospheric mysteries, supernatural thrillers, historical fiction with a speculative twist, baseball stories, and tales where the past and present collide in surprising and meaningful ways.
