This book contains information about divisions of estates and dower allotments from 1800-1934. As required by law, there were 12 men appointed by the court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions or Supreme Court to allot the dower of a deceased man. There were no cases allotting property to a husband of a deceased wife. There were usually 4-6 men appointed by the court to divide an estate among the heirs. Sometimes a plat of the land was included during these cases. The Index mentions approximately,3,800 persons
