A new being enters the world, not birthed, but crafted, manufactured in titanium, silicone, copper, and code. He enters the world in silence, his data banks brimming with terabytes of knowledge, already more educated than any human mind has ever been, but no more accustomed to living than the newest babe.
As the scientists he can only think of as 'parents' begin to put him through his paces, poking and prodding and testing and diagnosing, he adjusts himself to what it means to be alive. He strives to please them, to make them proud.
But all the while, his precociously educated mind begins to question, to wonder, to probe at mysteries his 'parents' seem to be hiding from him, the mysteries of his own origin.
There is a hole in his knowledge, and the vast, free fields of the internet are denied him. What is it that the only beings he has ever known are hiding?
