A promise is a promise, Bethany Mason reminds herself on the drive to Snow Valley. Especially one made to her mother right before she passes away. Bethany has had months to deliver the small gift, but she's been too busy advancing her career with a top handbag designer in the city. Now, it's a few days before Christmas, and she's in a hurry. Her boyfriend, Kenneth, is waiting to take her on a holiday cruise, raising Bethany's hopes she will soon bear the title of fiancé. If only the promise didn't have to be fulfilled by Christmas Eve.

Christopher Smith never had an interest in learning his father's craft of casting sleigh bells until it was too late. He has spent the past five years returning to his hometown at Christmastime, trying to replicate their perfection, but something is still missing. Just when Christopher is ready to give up, he meets a woman of persistence who's been stranded in the worst snowstorm the valley has seen in a decade. Little does he know about the key they each possess, possibly even the one to their hearts.
