A Quarter Past One draws heavily on current events, transporting them into a future where political party distrust is so great that an independent candidate is elected. The story reveals the many organizations influencing the inexperienced President's actions including the Deep State, the Russian Government and an ultra-right wing think tank. The key takeaway from this story would be: our way of life needs to be fought for. It is not here automatically. If it comes under threat, people must fight for it. Passive acceptance is a recipe for disaster.
About the Author
Steven G. Erick is a retired Nuclear Submarine Commanding Officer. He has written one book on how the country can fix its political parties. He also retired as an engineer during the construction of two new commercial nuclear power plants. Erick's writing is a reflection of his desire to preserve the integrity of the nation that he spent almost thirty years defending. Erick also authors a Substack series entitled A View from the Cheap Seats, One Man's Opinion in a Sea of Pundits, where he provides food for thought from the perspective of the man-on-the-streets. Erick plays golf whenever he gets the chance at his club in Asheville North Carolina. He is also married to a former middle school principal and guidance counselor who provides him with accurate insight into the motivations of today's political leaders.
