The President has no birth certificate. Congress is hostile, in the grip of the emboldened opposition party after a disastrous mid-term election. A right-wing militia group stages a bloody strike aimed at taking down the Presidency. This is 'A Natural Born Citizen', an especially timely political thriller. Elena de Leon is the first woman and first Hispanic President of the United States. Elected Vice President, she is sworn in when her pedecessor suffers a heart attack two years into his term. But how long will she last when it's revealed she has no birth certificate and the story of her birth in a small town on the US side of the Mexican border is challenged? House Speaker Harold Sawyer is next in line for the Presidency. Using her ex-husband, a fugitive ex-con hiding out from drug charges in Mexico, Sawyer makes a bold move to remove her from the White House and install himself as President. Meanwhile, militant white supremacists are enraged that a brown woman is in the White House. They kidnap her daughter in a meticulously planned, explosive attack that leaves two dozen people dead. The price for her release: Elena's resignation from the White House. 'A Natural Born Citizen' covers the first 14 days of Elena de Leon's administration, weaving the narrative of her legal battle that goes all the way to the Supreme Court with the dramatic efforts of the Secret Service to find and rescue her daughter.
