The author grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts, which happens to be the neighboring town where this delightful children's story begins. April Jean spent her summers on the island of Nantucket, a setting for future stories. First-time author April Jean is a former teacher who now runs a pet-sitting service in Manhattan. Quite simply, Frances inspired me to write this book. She brought so much joy to me and my family I just wanted to share her story. I have three other completed books: a counting book, a short story about a beekeeper who lives in Brooklyn, and a story about a pig named Higgilty Piggilty, who gathers an unlikely group of friends together for a Thanksgiving meal.
