Spears is convinced that Monroe, Nick and others conspired to deprive him of the gold. Spears is then approached by Pamela Vickers, previously convicted in multiple murders, who offers to kill Monroe if Spears will first murder Juan Costello, the Assistant U.S Attorney who helped send her to prison. Nick then learns that Spears's law firm represents the drug company, Seth had been under surveillance for years and now Rachel may be in danger. As more details emerge of Seth's story, the cover up, Spears, Pamela, and the plot against Monroe and Costello, they combine to form a web of intrigue also involving a pair of police stings and a professional assassin. Nick and the police are poised to set a final trap, but Spears, Pamela and Rachel confront each other in a thrilling climax.
