The main character, Darke, and his eight friends; Banks, Danny, Red, Aato, Jake, Destiny, Baxe, and Angel, are in Lanaj City celebrating Darke's birthday when a mysterious man drugs them.
The next day, they discover they have implants, and like the naive teenagers they are, they decide to keep this secret to themselves until one of them exposes it.
The sci-fi novel series follows many unfortunate events that the teenagers are forced to deal with while developing into complex characters.
