From veteran CIA officer and ex-Marine Peter Roman comes the engaging Cold War spy thriller The 2nd Lieutenant Spy.It's 1968, in the middle of the Cold War, and Sam Carpenter, an ex Marine Corps infantry officer and now a junior CIA agent, is hungry for action but instead finds himself, his wife, and three year old twins stuck in Luxembourg, in a lovely old city that holds no interest for the CIA or the KGB. As usual, Sam is in trouble with the CIA leadership which is why he has gotten himself exiled to this lovely backwater. But in nearby West Germany, the CIA Station desperately needs bodies, landing Sam right in the middle of high level intelligence operations, assassinations, and a series of intricate double crosses in Luxembourg, Bonn, Frankfurt and, of course, Washington D.C.For fans of Graham Greene and Donald Westlake and featuring Intricate plotting, sly humor, sudden violence (Tom Worrell, Yale Record editor), the 2nd Lieutenant Spy is an amusing and engaging thriller that is difficult to put down.
