The Two Scales of Reality - Local Regimes and Non-Local Regimes is the fourth volume in the T-Reality Series, an interdisciplinary research project integrating philosophy of mind, theoretical neuroscience, and cognitive science to examine the operational structure of consciousness and experienced reality.
Previous volumes in the series established that perceived reality does not constitute a direct copy of an external world but emerges as a stabilized operational configuration generated by the integrated activity of the nervous system. This volume advances that framework by introducing a fundamental structural distinction between experiential configurations and the operational conditions that enable their emergence and stabilization.
Drawing on key theoretical developments in predictive processing, Bayesian brain theory, and neurophilosophy, this book formalizes the concept of the local operational regime as a stabilized configuration emerging from neural integration, generative modeling, and predictive inference. The sense of self, spatial perception, and temporal continuity are analyzed as emergent properties of these stabilized operational regimes.
The volume also introduces the concept of operational non-locality, defined not as a metaphysical claim but as a structural property of modeling systems. The operational conditions that enable experience do not appear as equivalent experiential contents but constitute the distributed dynamics that enable experiential stabilization.
By integrating the work of Karl Friston, Andy Clark, Thomas Metzinger, and Stanislas Dehaene, this volume provides a rigorous conceptual framework for understanding the relationship between neural dynamics, cognitive models, and conscious experience.
