At the same he learns that the government is trying to seize the money. Lank figures he might have to rob the bank in order to get what is rightfully theirs. This means getting the assistance of a banker named Cassnar - a man with a shadowy past and a widowed sister, who leave's Lank smitten, only to vanish. All the while, Lank, a drifter more or less, finds himself being yanked into modern society. It seems everyone has gold on the mind and secrets to hide.
