Three mice, thinking The Moon to be made of cheese, go in search of a ladder to climb up to it. But no matter how high the ladders, they are never long enough. Ultimately, it is being faced with the choice between greed or sharing the cheese that decides whether the mice succeed or not. It is the illustrations of the three mice that are captivating in this book as well as the humor of the mice ignoring the impossibility of their task...getting to The Moon. The ending leaves the reader with the expectation of a sequel. The goodness and necessity of sharing is the lesson to be taken from this cheerful and delightful short story.
