The raw outpouring of emotion in easy to read prose has made Alana's work resonate with countless people who felt she was putting words to the feelings they struggle to articulate. Alana Kirby's first book, the words i'll never say, sold 10,000 copies in its first six months due to her massive social media following under the pseudonym Alaska Lane. Her poems have been viewed by millions around the world. With this continuation of her previous work, Alana hopes her new poems can help dispel the feeling of nothingness some people wrestle with and invite light and hope to wash over all:
i find relief in keeping myself small.
in having nothing at all.
it's actually quite comforting if you
think about it. if i already have nothing then i have
nothing to hold on to.
if i keep myself this way then no one
will have the chance to take anything
away.
it's not even that i don't see my worth
or the potential of who i could be.
it's simply that i'm afraid of having
anything.
because i've felt the pain that
accompanies you once love leaves.
i've felt the way it sticks around like a
ringing in your ear that you can't get out.
it hurts worse than anything you've
ever known.
and i just can't stand to let another
thing i love go.
