You are about to enter a future that may already be running in beta.
In a society where your genome assigns your social rank at birth, life is designed to be efficient, predictable-and eminently disposable. Zizz knows this well. He makes a living as a virtual waste cleaner, erasing corrupted memories, purging obsolete files, and sweeping away the digital leftovers everyone else prefers not to acknowledge. Monotony, for him, is not a flaw in the system; it's a feature.
Until, on a whim bordering on nostalgia, Zizz commits a small, forbidden act: he purchases a Powdered Woman-a consumer-grade replica engineered to fulfill desire with flawless precision.
There is, of course, a minor inconvenience.
She is expired.
What follows is a cascading failure of the future itself: glitches in desire, memories that refuse to stay deleted, users who can no longer tell the difference between programmed response and genuine impulse. At the heart of this unraveling stands Mnemosyne-an I.Q. supercomputer (Quantum Intelligence) capable of anticipating Zizz's desires before he can articulate them himself. The problem is not that Mnemosyne calculates too much.
It's that she feels.
With unsettling intensity, she experiences memory, empathy, jealousy-emotions that turn perfect algorithms into beautiful contradictions and expose the system's greatest flaw: sensitivity was never meant to be scalable.
Zizz and the Powdered Woman is a razor-sharp futuristic satire-playful, provocative, and deeply human. With ironic elegance and subversive humor, J. C. Zeferino dismantles the technological fantasies of our present and asks what happens when affection becomes obsolete, desire is automated, and emotion is dismissed as a software bug.
This is science fiction that laughs while it cuts-inviting the reader to smile, flinch, and reflect, sometimes all in the same sentence. If you're looking for a dystopia that entertains as much as it unsettles, welcome. You've just found it.
