Zamyatin: A Soviet Heretic is a biographical work written by D.J. Richards that explores the life and work of Yevgeny Zamyatin, a Russian writer and political dissident. The book offers a comprehensive analysis of Zamyatin's literary contributions, including his most famous work, the dystopian novel We, which was banned in the Soviet Union for its critique of totalitarianism. The book also delves into Zamyatin's personal life, examining his experiences as a revolutionary and his eventual disillusionment with the Soviet regime. Richards provides a detailed account of Zamyatin's interactions with other prominent figures in the Russian literary and political scenes, as well as his eventual exile to France. Overall, Zamyatin: A Soviet Heretic offers a fascinating insight into the life of one of Russia's most important literary figures and provides a nuanced understanding of the complex political and social climate of the early Soviet Union.Studies In Modern European Literature And Thought. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
