Yawcob Strauss: And Other Poems is a collection of poems written by Charles Follen Adams. The book features humorous and satirical poems that depict the life and culture of Pennsylvania Dutch communities in the late 19th century. The title poem, Yawcob Strauss, tells the story of a German immigrant who struggles to adapt to American culture and language. Other poems in the collection explore themes of love, family, and everyday life in rural communities. The language used in the poems is a mix of English and Pennsylvania Dutch, adding to the authenticity and charm of the collection. The book is a delightful glimpse into a bygone era and is sure to entertain readers with its wit and humor. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
