Yuna's Lunchbox - A Heartwarming Korean American Story About Friendship, Diversity, and Belonging
What happens when children discover that the things that make us different can also bring us together?
Yuna is a Korean American girl who loves drawing, Korean food, and sharing stories about her family. But when she brings kimbap and tteokbokki to school, some classmates make fun of her lunch and even her name. Feeling lonely and misunderstood, Yuna begins to wonder if being different is something she should hide.
Everything changes when a classroom project encourages students to explore cultures from around the world. Through friendship, curiosity, Korean food, family traditions, and a colorful Koreatown Festival, Yuna and her classmates discover that every culture has something beautiful to share.
More than a story about Korean culture, this picture book is a celebration of diversity, empathy, and cultural understanding. Children learn that different foods, languages, traditions, and family backgrounds are not things to fear or laugh at-they are opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.
Perfect for families, classrooms, libraries, and educators, this book gently introduces young readers to important concepts of inclusion and multicultural awareness through an engaging and relatable story.

- Traditional Korean clothing (hanbok)
- Korean festivals and community celebrations
- Korean names and the Korean writing system (Hangul)
- Korean music, performances, cartoons, and family traditions
These cultural experiences are woven naturally into the story, allowing children to learn through friendship and discovery rather than through formal lessons.
