In this deeply personal collection, Cole Peters opens a window into the raw, unfiltered emotions of his teenage years. These poems-many written during the final years of high school-capture the intensity of adolescence: the ache of childhood wounds, the confusion of identity, and the silent battles with depression, anxiety, and loneliness.
Written in real time, these verses are not polished reflections from a distance, but vivid expressions from within the storm. They reveal the weight of a young heart trying to make sense of pain, longing, and hope. For Cole, poetry became a lifeline-a way to give shape to the thoughts and feelings he couldn't speak aloud.
Though written before he came to faith, this book marks the beginning of a journey that would ultimately lead Cole to Jesus. At 19, overwhelmed by the burdens he carried, Cole encountered the hope and healing found in Christ. Since then, his life has been transformed. In 2024, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Theology from Bible College. Today, he works full-time as a mechanic, serves part-time as an associate pastor, and is a husband and father-with another child on the way.
Cole shares these poems not to glorify the pain, but to remind others that they are not alone. His prayer is that readers will see themselves in these pages-and perhaps even glimpse the beginnings of redemption in their own story.
