The one thing that each of us have in common is that all of us have been children at one time or another. And then, if we're blessed and it's God's will for our lives, we have, or will have, the privilege of being parents to our own children. And I have to say, that's one of the most fulfilling jobs I've ever had, or will have. I loved being a parent to our boys when they were young and have enjoyed it even more being their Dad as they've grown into adulthood. And somewhere along the way between the two, God inspired the song You Wake Up One Morning as a reminder of just how short our time is with our young children and as a memorial to all of the great, fun moments we enjoyed together with them at every age and every stage of life.
This book, like all of the books in the Storytelling Man Children's Picture Book Series, is based on the song by the same title and has as it's text the lyrics to the song. And on the Dedication Page at the beginning of the book, it contains a QR code that will allow readers to listen to the song as they read or follow along in the book. As with all of the other books, it can be a huge learning tool for young readers.
I don't know about you, but for me the premise of waking up one morning and turning around once to see our boys grown and gone with families of their own is so true. Maybe it's because as we age time compresses and it seems like everything is moving a lot faster. I often joke that Christmas is next week and that we just celebrated it a week ago. But that's literally how fast time seems to fly by for me. So don't be surprised if you wake up one morning and your little boy's grown; turn around once and your little boy's gone. (And the same applies for little girls.)
