A Year With The Mother-Play is a book that was published in 1902 by Andrea Hofer Proudfoot. The book is intended to provide outlines for a second year's study course for the League of American Mothers. The League of American Mothers was an organization that was founded in 1895 to help mothers in the United States raise their children in a healthy and nurturing environment. The book is divided into 12 chapters, one for each month of the year. Each chapter contains a series of exercises and activities that are designed to help mothers teach their children about different aspects of life. The exercises are based on the Mother-Play system, which was developed by Friedrich Froebel, a German educator who is considered to be the father of the kindergarten movement. The Mother-Play system is based on the idea that children learn best through play and exploration. The system uses simple toys and activities to help children develop their creativity, imagination, and social skills. The exercises in A Year With The Mother-Play are designed to help mothers use the Mother-Play system to teach their children about nature, art, music, language, and other subjects. The book also includes a section on the history and philosophy of the Mother-Play system, as well as practical advice for mothers on how to create a nurturing environment for their children. Overall, A Year With The Mother-Play is a valuable resource for mothers who want to help their children develop into well-rounded, creative, and socially adept individuals. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
