For the most part Abraham's children-Jews, Christians, and Muslims-are strangers to one another, knowing what someone has told them about the other. In A Year with Abraham's Children, you can read the words of each as they speak for themselves. Obviously, the three faiths are different or they would not be separate faiths. Still, they have much in common. Robert Flaherty has collected quotations from the three children of Abraham, primarily from the Hebrew Scriptures, the New Testament, and the Qur'an, that emphasize what the three have in common. For each day of the year, there is one quotation rotating Muslim, Jewish, Christian.
Flaherty is an interfaith Christian. He was born into a Christian family and devoted his professional life to Christian ministry. Throughout his academic and professional career wisdom from other religious traditions spoke to him and nurtured his faith. As an Army chaplain, he had close contact with Jews and Muslims which nurtured him. In A Year with Abraham's Children, he invites you to share the interfaith journey.
