A Year In Peshawur, And A Ladys Ride Into The Khyber Pass is a travelogue written by L. R. Trevelyan in 1880. The book describes the author's experiences during his stay in Peshawar, a city in present-day Pakistan, for a year. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part focusing on Trevelyan's observations of the city's culture, people, and customs. He describes the bazaars, the food, the dress, and the religious practices of the people. The second part of the book describes Trevelyan's journey into the Khyber Pass, a mountain pass that connects Pakistan and Afghanistan. The author accompanies a British lady on her journey through the pass, which was considered dangerous at that time. Trevelyan describes the rugged terrain, the tribal people who lived in the area, and the challenges they faced during the journey. The book provides a vivid and detailed account of life in Peshawar and the surrounding areas during the 19th century. It also offers insights into the British colonial mindset and their relationship with the local people. The book is a valuable resource for those interested in the history and culture of South Asia, as well as for those interested in travel writing. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
