The Yankee Consul: A Musical Comedy is a play written by Henry M. Blossom Jr. and first published in 1903. The story revolves around the character of John Paul Jones, an American consul in a fictional South American country. Jones falls in love with the daughter of the country's president, but their relationship is threatened by political tensions between the United States and the South American nation. The play features a number of musical numbers, including the popular song In the Good Old Summertime. The Yankee Consul was a popular production in its time, and was later adapted into a film in 1924. The play is considered a classic of American musical theater and is still performed today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
