Capturing what it truly means to be alone, desperate, hopeful, and empowered, Declan Patrick's series of poems outlines powerful, early adulthood emotional turning points. Fundamental struggles with self, relationships, dependencies, and purpose are central themes throughout this collection. Using his professional and personal experience from the world of mental health, Patrick creates a narrative for the reader that constantly questions the emotions and sensations felt in real time. From social fear, acceptance of pain, and the dangers of hope, each piece possesses poignant honesty, with realizations that are cringingly self-aware. Follow this text wherever it goes; take note of how you feel; you will be both validated and challenged on what it means to be human.
