Writing to a Raid Siren

Writing to a Raid Siren is a raw and haunting debut poetry collection by Michael Roque, written in the shadow of war, displacement, memory, and emotional survival. Moving between bomb shelters, sleepless apartments, collapsing relationships, hospitals of the soul, and cities reshaped by fear, these poems capture what it feels like to live through a world that no longer feels stable - and still search for tenderness within it.

With imagery that is cinematic, intimate, and deeply human, Roque explores trauma, loneliness, faith, longing, identity, and the strange beauty that can still exist in fractured places. From air raid sirens over Israeli skies to private battles hidden behind ordinary routines, Writing to a Raid Siren is a collection about surviving psychologically as much as physically.

These are poems for anyone who has ever felt suspended between destruction and hope, drifting through chaos while trying to remain human.
