Poetry has been created for thousands of years, dating back as early as the third millennium BCE. It's been used as ancient religious scriptures, confessions of love, recollections of history, letters or odes to loved ones, and even things of entertainment. Their structure makes it personal to every person, no matter the original meaning. A poem about war could mean a poem about a toxic ex, depression, acceptance, panic, or even love to the reader. It's created to be dissected and analyzed by anyone who reads it. With this in mind, through references, real events, characters, and broken rhymes, I wrote Writing To Butterflies, my entire life in poetry, for everyone in love with art and the urge to truly, truly understand it. These poems are meant to be situationally significant to the reader and heal old wounds not only for me, but for anyone who finds themselves in art.
