With Manchesters In The East is a first-hand account of the experiences of author Gerald Berkeley Hurst during his service with the Manchester Regiment in the Middle East during World War I. The book covers his journey from his enlistment in 1914 to his return to England in 1918. Hurst describes in vivid detail the battles he fought in, including the Gallipoli campaign, the Sinai and Palestine campaign, and the Mesopotamian campaign. He also provides insight into the daily life of a soldier, including the challenges of living in the desert, the camaraderie among soldiers, and the impact of war on mental health. The book is a valuable historical document, providing a personal perspective on the events of World War I and the experiences of soldiers on the front lines. It is also a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in the Middle East during this time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
