Margot's marriage was sinking. Her budding career, off to a sluggish, if not dead-in-the-water, start. And then, on the evening of her aunt's eightieth birthday, the old woman is snatched away from Margot in a moment of swift, unyielding tragedy. Accident? Or murder? Margot wants to believe more than anything that one of her aunt's dearest friends couldn't possibly be responsible for her death. But then again, Aunt Kate had just changed her will. Then there's her brother, Porter, who's near constant need for money pushed him, head long, to the top of the list of suspects. Soon, Margot is connecting with the dead on a professional level, thanks to a Tarot card-carrying woman known as Madame Lavonia. Only Margot soon finds out that the dead don't like to be disturbed, and it becomes all too clear that connecting with the dearly departed can become more than a little dangerous.
