Coni was a FEMA inspector and trainer for 7 years, She witnessed the devastation in people's lives and businesses because they were ill-equipped and did not know what to do. It is more than having an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water. Much more! What is needed the most has nothing to do with physical things! In this book, she provides you with everything you need to know about preparedness and shows you how being physically and mentally prepared creates resiliency so you can build back better. She did all kinds of natural and man-made disasters and provides you tips on what you need to know about each of them.
When COVID came along, we entered a time of isolation, anxiety, stress, and fear but also a time of renewal and hope with the opportunity to realign our lives. She calls all disasters Crystalline Moments ( her first international bestselling book). Crystalline Moments are moments of clarity and they always come with gifts and opportunities, no matter how horrible or wonderful they are. All disasters are crystalline moments, as she says; Disasters teach us humanity, give us time to pause and reflect, then change our course. The gifts in disasters come with being prepared, making oneself resilient. Disasters always connect people for the better good. She founded the CKM Preparedness Foundation (BePreparedBeReady.org) to educate and assist individuals, businesses, and communities with the tools needed to be more sustainable, resilient, and safe. The foundation reaches out to the community and increases the potential for reducing carbon footprints, mitigating risks, and increasing their resiliency.
Their first initiative is called Kits4Kids, a safety go-kit that goes in the bottom of a child's everyday backpack. It goes to schools and other activities. It has a tracker, stop-the-bleed bandages, and much more. This book is provided so parents will know what to do. Unfortunately, 76% of parents are worried about their kids, fears, anxiety, depression, and potential suicide, and 67% of kids are worried about their future. This kit will provide a degree of peace of mind.
Kits4Kids launches with a Kits4Kids Spokesperson Campaign. Experts all agree that one way to help kids is for them to become activists. With the help of local businesses, schools, and parents, kids will provide a 1-minute video about why they want to be the spokesperson in their community. The community will vote for a boy and girl, ages 6-17 to be the spokespeople. And now there is an army of kids who want to be involved and be activists. They will educate and sell the adults.
